Are AOL and Yahoo a Partnership?

Yahoo has sent out a message asking AOL to partner with them and try to take down their competitors. Starboard claims that AOL pairing with Yahoo could be better than the two separate. This partnership could deliver cost synergies of up to $1 billion. But Forrester Research analyst James McQuivey compares the partnership to Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Radio, “There’s something that stretches but doesn’t really preserve long time business prospects.” Yahoo has made around a dozen acquisitions, but can't improve its advertising business. There has also been a very expensive acquisition of Tumblr of $1.1billion. While AOL has doubled-down on text and video.

I liked this story because I use AOL and if they join forces it will be different. I can imagine turning on my computer screen at home and seeing a different screen and other than the AOL screen. Things I wonder about though is if my email will change and will I have to sign up all over again? If it does I’ll be really mad. Well wish AOL and Yahoo good luck.
